Mark Belton
The Wenatchee School Board has appointed Mark Belton to the open District 4 position. This decision was made during a special meeting on Thursday, April 3rd. Belton will be sworn in at the board’s regular meeting on April 22.
Belton is a procurement and contract services supervisor for Chelan County PUD. He was one of four applicants selected for an interview by the school board. He will take over the seat previously held by Miranda Skalisky, who resigned from the board due to relocating for work outside of the area.
Belton has experience in public school administration, having worked in the Eastmont and Shoreline School Districts. In addition to his professional experience, he is actively involved in the community, serving on the boards of the Music Theatre of Wenatchee and Small Miracles.
“I am excited to welcome Mark to the Wenatchee School Board,” said School Board President Tucker Jackson. “With his strategic planning and budgeting background from the PUD and his commitment to supporting both academics and extracurricular opportunities in the district, I think he will be able to hit the ground running and be a strong contributing member of the group.”
In response to the board's selection, Belton said, ”I received the news of my appointment while surrounded by friends and family. I am excited to support the future of Wenatchee schools.”
Belton’s appointment will last until November 2025, at which point Position 4 will be up for election. Candidates interested in running for Position #4 can file with the Chelan County Elections office between May 5 and May 9. Additionally, Position #1, currently held by Julie Norton, and Position #5 (at-large), currently held by Martin Barron, will also be available for filing for the November election.
